Set Science-Based Targets for the FLAG Sector with Biocode
Biocode follows the SBTi FLAG Guidance, helping you set targets for reducing your land-based greenhouse gas emissions.
Retailers around the world, such as Walmart, Lidl, Aldi, Target, and Carrefour, have set Science-Based Targets and expect up to 80% of their suppliers to do the same.
Complete FLAG Compliance
Biocode supports you with FLAG-specific target-setting, helping you reduce emissions from land-use change (LUC) and land management (non-LUC) activities.
Data Transparency
Understand exactly where your emissions are coming from—whether it’s peatlands draining, agricultural waste burning, or fertilizer use.
Sustainability at Your Fingertips
With easy-to-use tracking tools and visualizations, Biocode makes emissions reduction a practical and achievable goal for businesses in the land-use sector.

Frequently Asked Questions about SBTs and FLAG Guidance
Setting Science-Based Targets is always voluntary. However, your buyer or investor may require you to join the initiative.
If you are committed to setting SBTs and your company operates in the agricultural, food and beverage, forest and paper industry, or retail sectors, there’s a high chance that you will be required to follow the FLAG Guidance to participate in the initiative. This applies to companies that meet at least three of the following criteria:
- Employ over 250 employees
- Have a turnover of over €50 million
- Have total assets of over €25 million
- Operate in the land-use sector
FLAG guidelines provide specific criteria for setting Science-Based Targets in the land-use sector, addressing emissions from:
- land-use change
- land management, and
- carbon removals and storage.
Biocode helps you collect and analyze emissions data in line with FLAG’s criteria.
- Land Management calculations are already available in Biocode.
- Land Use Change calculation models will be added into Biocode with our software update soon.
In a meanwhile, we can assist you with Land Use Change calculation as consultancy services. - Carbon removals & storage can be excluded from the current calculations.
The final methodologies are still being developed, and Biocode will update its models once these are published.
